Steven Hillyer is a 1990 graduate of The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture, and currently serves as Director of the school’s Architecture Archive. He is responsible for the design and installation of exhibitions sponsored by the School of Architecture, the production of publications for the school, and the ongoing documentation and presentation of student work.

In addition to his work at The Cooper Union, Hillyer is also a screenwriter, having worked with creative partner Tim Marback in developing projects via their New York City based company, Arkanjel Productions, for over ten years. Hillyer’s first feature film, THE EVENT, starring Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis, Sarah Polley, and Parker Posey, premiered at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival and won the prestigious Siegessäule Jury Award at The Berlin International Film Festival and Best Screenplay and Best Feature awards from the Atlantic Film Festival. Olympia Dukakis was also named Best Actress at Outfest Los Angeles the same year. The film was released domestically and internationally, and is available on DVD.

Hillyer's upcoming projects include MEND, a stage play written with Marback, which is currently in development with director/actress Olympia Dukakis, as well as the feature film, MY PLACE IN THE WORLD.
